In North Carolina, stormwater runoff is the number one source of pollution to our surface water. Fertilizer and pesticide applications, automotive maintenance, littering, and improper disposal of pet waste are some of the ways we all contribute to water pollution.
As water from rain or melting snow flows over land, it collects harmful pollutants on its journey to the closest storm drain, drainage ditch or waterway. Though the amount of any particular pollutant might not seem like much, when multiplied by the size of a given community, it can have a major impact on the quality of our water. Better water quality means protected sources of drinking water and a safe environment for you and your family.

Clean Streams Workshop for Landscape Professionals Coming Soon!
Licensed Professionals can earn pesticides credit!
The Clean Streams program teaches lawn-care professionals practical ways to ensure that fertilizers and chemicals do not harm local water quality. All attendees, who are licensed, will receive one pesticide credit for recertification and a certificate of completion for the Clean Streams program. Clean Streams is a program of the Piedmont Triad Water Quality Partnership and the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service.
